STUDIO BRIEF 2 – ARCHETYPE

Once I had done research into the kind of concept art that it out there I moved onto looking at different archetypes that were available to me. It was narrowed down to about 7 different archetypes; each listed in Christopher Volger’s ‘The Writer’s Journey – Mythical Structure for Writers’ 1998. The list included The Hero, The Shadow, The Mentor, Threshold Guardian, The Trickster, Shapeshifter and The Herold. Out of all of these I decided to go with The Mentor due to qualities that a mentor has would make it an interesting character to design.
