Personal and Professional Practice 3: 'Research' Studio Brief - Phil Fish

The next games developer that I wanted to look at is Phil Fish the person behind the development of Fez. He has quite a rocky role in the industry and although no longer producing games doe make you think about whether the Indie Game industry is right for you or not. He has had a difficult time with it and with the social media side to it, which I think is just as important to get right as the social media side get people talking about your products and gets people excited about it and wanting to buy it when it comes out.
He is probably not the most influential person to look at but for me it shows that there is a lot of pressure to deal with when you are producing your own game as an Indie Developer. When watching the documentary about him it was clear that he was stressed and at times wanted things to just go right even when they weren't but its a process that just needs to be completed rather than worried about. He was recently working on Fez 2 but was still under pressure from social media and this caused him to leave it and run, leaving Twitter with just a small explanation.
'Fez 2 is cancelled. I am done. I take the money and I run. This is as much as I can stomach. This isn't the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign. You win.'
