Personal and Professional Practice 3: 'Research Studio Brief - Colossal Order

'Colossal Order Ltd. is a privately owned Finnish game development studio located at the centre of Tampere. Founded in 2009 by industry professionals Colossal Order is packed with talent and experience. We have a passion for old-school city-building games.' (Source) Collosal Order is the next company that I really wanted to look at as I think they are a brilliant games company and they make some brilliant games, there first two being the Cities in Motion game and it's sequel, Cities in Motion 2.
They are all about their city builders and they can do some pretty impressive stuff with the Unity Engine. I first found about this company only this year after buying Cities Skylines, an absolute gem of a game that is pretty much perfect if your into your city builders. The company is based in Finland and looks like a wonderful company to work for. One of the main reasons I like them is that they are dedicated to producing a certain genre of game and they do it brilliantly, knowing exactly what works and what doesn't!
Another reason is there advertisements for jobs at there company. They are currently advertising for an environmental artist and also for a 'great person' and I think this is brilliant. The advertisement is below and I think its great, it shows that they don't take themselves too seriously and can have a bit of fun with it.

'Great, awesome and talented people - unsolicited applications

At Colossal Order, we are focused on the simulation genre. After the Cities in Motion series, we are broadening our horizon with our newest title Cities: Skylines, an old-school citybuilder. We are always looking for talented awesome people to join our ranks. Whatever it is you do, if it is related to what we do and you do it great, we want to hear from you!

Skills and experience
- Something applicable to game development and our games genre

Responsibilities

But if it is just a general job that they are highlighting they are generally very pleasant about going about that too. The general specifics for a job require certain software that I am not skilled in but Max is something that I do want to learn in the future. Also this games company is in Finland so it wouldn't be somewhere I would look for a job, but there could be opportunities in the future.

You have:
Over 5 years of experience as professional 3D Environment Artist in game development
Expertise in architectural modeling and texturing
Excellent proficiency in major 3D software (Max/Modo)
Worked on 2 or more published titles or equivalent commercial released products
Familiarity with the Unity engine
Team playing skills
Ability to work on-site in our Tampere office
Proficiency in organic modeling is a plus
