Personal and Professional Practice 3: 'Research' Studio Brief - Blizzcon 2014 Warcraft Movie Presentation

This is definitely what I have been waiting for, and even though it isn’t going to be coming out till March 2016, its got me really exciting and looking forward to this so much. They wanted to go for a very realistic looking effect for this as the technology that we have is now capable of doing this. They have introduced motion capture into the filming process and they are using the actors performance to capture all of the finer details in the characters.
Duncan Jones the director says it’s so much fun working on the film. As a fan he has had lots of ideas to put towards it and knows how important it is to make something amazing for the fans. The film is not all virtual and they have built lots of sets for this, including the main street in Stormwind so they could get close up and visual representations of objects instead of having to image them being there.

They also used real time rendering so that they could look through the view finder of the camera on one of the actors who is doing a motion capture shot and see them as the Orc and get that visual look so they knew he was doing everything correct and the features where looking good.
The cast the they have working on it so far seems so exciting as well and they all seem so passionate about working on the film as well:
Alliance
Travis Fimmel – Andio Lothar
Dominic Cooper – King Llane Wrynn
Ben Foster – Medivh
Ben Schnetzer – Khadgar
Ruth Negga – Lady Taria

Horde

Other
