Extended Practice Game Play and Collectibles Research: Muppet Monster Adventure

The last game that I looked at for the mechanics was Muppet Monster Adventure, which was a rather strange choice on my behalf, but think that it has some interesting qualities to it that makes it interesting to play. It has a limited idea and story to it, but the mechanics do make it worth the play, especially for a child as that is the audience that it is targeted towards.
The mechanics of the game, although they make it more interesting, are still pretty limited and the idea behind them although not very adventurous, does work. The camera for me, could follow the character around a little better as it is a little bit stiff to control in places, especially in tighter corridors and passageways, but this doesn't become to much of an issue as generally the game runs fairly smoothly.  The general mechanics include the obvious running and jumping for the platforming aspect, but there is generally enemies to deal with, using the attack button and there are also a lot of different characters to talk to meaning that you can interact with a lot in the environment.
Lastly I wanted to look at the collectibles system in the game and I actually think this works very well. You are guided throughout the game by Pepe The King Prawn, who gives you tips into what everything does and this does come in very handy throughout. The premise of the game is about collecting stars that are lying around the levels, but the main collectible is the pieces of Amulet that have been broken up into 4 pieces and I think the logic behind this is very well done. The way that the amulets work is that once you collect 4 you gain a new ability to be able to do something else in the level. For example one amulet gives you the ability to dive underwater, this opens up more to the level, making the game feel a lot bigger with more depth.
