Extended Practice Game Play and Collectibles Research: Looney Tunes Back in Action

The next game that I wanted to look into quickly was Looney Tunes: Back in Action due to the weird nature of how this game was designed. Overall it has the same kind of theme that we are aiming to produce in our game, and is weirdly very fun to play. It is a fairly old-ish game, and was produced for the PlayStation2 after the release of the film and although this is a game adaption the game play really wasn't too bad.
The overall mechanics weren't too difficult to control and you could very easily navigate around an environment as either Daffy Duck or Bugs Bunny making the nature of the game different as each had there own unique style of movement and abilities. The game play is general very sound to use and there are not too many problems with the overall quality of the movement although some of the jumping puzzles were difficult to get lined up, but this could have been down to the precision of the joystick on the PS2 not quite being up to today's standard. Nevertheless the game is still exciting and the mechanics work well with what it is try to produce. The platforming is fairly straight forward and each characters different abilities work well for the fun nature of the game as Bugs is able to bury underground, this can lead to him finding different collectibles, and Daffy can swim again allowing the collection of different items.
The collectibles in the game aren't too ambitious but work okay for the style that it is trying to produce. The main collectible in the game in currency and you have to collect money throughout the game in order to get to the next level. There is also the chance to collect gold monkey statues and there is also chance to gain costumes for bugs and daffy to wear which actually become another game play mechanic and this costume change can be used to sneak past guards in certain areas and other such things. Altogether I think this is a brilliant example of how a simple idea can be put together just by adding in many different mechanics to two different playable characters.
