Cutout animation is a technique that uses flat characters, props and background cut out from different flat materials, usually paper, card or fabrics, and some of the worlds earliest films where known to be cut out animations. Today instead of using cut out pieces of paper a computer is now able to produce this in a much faster way using scanned images or vector graphics. The best example of this transition happening is the popular TV series South Park, which is created by
Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
