Inspirational Companies: Insomniac Games

Before I started to get on with actually trialing Unity and creating the game level itself I wanted to look at the top 5 games companies that have inspired me most to want to not only do this course in the first place but also to be into games and also want to go on to design my own game levels. The companies that I have picked all range from new games that were brought out this decade back to the ones in the late 90s that I grew up playing.

Probably one of my favourite game companies is Insomniac games mainly due to the fact that they were the ones that created the Spyro series; well the three best ones, personally the best game I have ever played. The company was founded in 1994, located in California and is responsible for creating some the most interesting 3D platformers that I have ever played. The games themselves that the company makes are very colourful and happy like in Spyro and in also include very round and 'cartoony'  characters as seen the Ratchet and Clank series which was developed after the success of Spyro. The company then turned in a very different direction after Rachet and Clank and brought out an M-Rated games entitled Resistance: Fall of Man, which showed influence from Rachet and Clank with its futuristic weapons but it was also a very dark game which was an interesting surprise from the company. After making two more Resistance games, as they proved popular like all of there others, they are now starting to develop a new game called Fuse set to come out this year.

Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon

Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time

Resistance: Fall of Man
