PPP2 Review: DLC Quest

Another strange game that I found on Steam for a lovely 50p was DLC Quest. The whole game and sequel, which also comes included, is only about half an hour long in play time but it was definitely worth getting. It is a very strange little game and definitely takes the mick.

The game is about buying dlc, downloadable content, to be able to do anything. You are the hero in the game and are spawned into a very nice, slightly pixelated world. This is where the mick come into play as to be able to move left or even jump you have to buy the dlc pack for it. This is pure genius in a game as there is always so much hype about new dlc packs, which are the additions to base games. In this case they have made it impossible to advance without it, other we would be going right forever. some of the dlc packs you can buy, obviously in game and using coins you pick up, not actual money, are absolutely pointless and ridiculous. Such as the top hat pack and the zombie pack, as every game has to have a zombie dlc pack right?

Once you put the general gameplay to one side and focus on the smaller details you see how good this little gem of a game really is. The small environment which is quite pixelated is actually really beautiful even though it is quite minimalistic. There is a really beautiful background that has been really well designed as well and is so stunning. Even the foreground looks nice as everything is very bright and colourful. there are also very quirky characters like the shepard and also the random AI that was added by the developers for no reason. These little touches are all brilliant and add to the humour of the game. One of my favourite places being entitled 'Allan please add zone name'. Pure genius in my option as you walk into this space and can't help worry about Allan's well being after the space is completely empty... Poor Allan.
