For our VFX Module we had the opportunity to help in other peoples projects along with working on our own and I helped, alongside a few others, to create Stuart Brown's, who is from my course. He was creating a superhero battle which looked at Thor and Loki and the conflict between them as they fought. For this I was in charge of hair, make-up and costumes along with the continuity of the film to ensure that each scene looks the same as the last in terms of appearance of the actors.
The filming was split onto a number of different days to suit everyone and the first day took place in the Rosebowl underground car park in Leeds in which along with my roles above I was also on sound and was using the recorder during the filming and helping set up all the equipment. Below we had someone documenting the process of filming so that we could show how we contributed.
The next filming day took place in the Studio Theater at College in which I was again in charge of hair make up and the continuity of the costumes from each scene to the next. For this scene I wasn't needed as much as it was a short green screen process that took little over an hour to complete, but for this I documented the process instead in which the pictures are below.
The last two parts of the filming took place on the same day and were shot in two different locations, the first being Stoodely Pike and the second Bridestone Rocks, two fantastic locations. Unfotunately the weather was against us slightly, and after a hell of a walk, along with some mild heartburn on my part, we made it to the top of the Pike to find out it was gale-force winds and we couldn't use half the equipment we brought up. But we made the most of it, nearly getting blown away a few times, but got some great footage before heading down to the rocks. This again wasn't the best of times, by the time we got there it was so foggy and rainy that we all were drenched and feeling a bit down. But once again we pulled together and got the footage even in the dampening weather and it ended up being a day to be proud of. Once again I was in charge of the hair, make up and continuity but also during these shots the storyboards and camera angles, ensuring that they were possible and ensuring that everyone knew what scene they were doing and about it do next.
Brilliant shoot altogether.
