Context of Practice AAA Research: The Walking Dead

Another really interesting game to look at is The Walking Dead which is based off a comic book series. The game follows the actions of Lee, a man who is on his way to prion when the zombie invasion strikes. He makes it off scott free and goes on to finding Clementine, a girl who's family are dead and she's all alone. after meeting Clementine the real adventure begins and they must do everything to survive through the extraordinary events that occurs in front of them. After meeting up with a group of survivors shortly after, things appear to start going there way, especially when they end up on a nice farm in the countryside.

This fantastic point and click-type adventure game is superb, it focus' so much on the story of the game and character development which is just what needs to happen in a zombie survival game. You want to feel connected to each character, talk to them and learn everything you can about them and about who they were before everything happened. You can delve deep into everyone's lives and learn so much about forming that bond between your character and theirs, gaining trust when its not so easily won. But this bond that you can create with characters is a rare occurrence in many video games. But this is not the best thing about the characters. when it comes down to making decisions this is truly the toughest part of the game. Do you do whats right or stick by your loyal friend? The game then uses the decision that you made later on in the game. If you side against your friend in any way they will remember and not trust you in future events. This is a fantastic little thing that they have done with the game and it brings you closer to the characters, so that you actually feel like you are playing as one of them and not just as another character.

The whole environment for the game is also lovely and in great settings. The places vary on were the group goes and this takes you to many different locations in this first season of the game. The locations are all very well designed and there is always a high interaction level in each environment, making it a joy to walk around and explore in them. As your character Lee does not move very fast its nice that the environments are all quite small as this means that your not walking for ages due to how slow he is. But because of the small spaces this works well and its easy to navigate around each of them, finding and collecting supplies that will help gain more friendship in the future.

Overall this is a fantastic game to look at for this brief as it tells a perfect story about how a group of survivors must do everything to stay together in the dying world were everything has changed so quickly. The friendship that is created through meeting new characters is something different and this new technique works so well as you feel closer to the characters in the long run and know which ones you do not want to be around even though your stuck with them. The game tailors to all kinds of players, you can be ruthless and violent, telling everyone what Lee did and who he was, or quiet and conservative, putting other people first and confiding in only the people close to you, whilst still telling them the truth.
