Berlin Visit

While we away in Germany we also got the opportunity to travel up to Berlin for a few days to be able to look at the sighs and also go to a few museums which we took advantage of as they were all brilliant.

Zoo
To begin with on the Sunday, the day after we got their we decided to first go to Berlin Zoo as it was not only a great day out, but a good chance to get some photos of some animals that will help in future research if I ever needed to model them. I also wanted to ensure that I could see their environments in the pictures as well as this is my area that I want to focus on, so it was nice to see the environments that the keepers had created for them as they are all unique to that animal. The zoo was also huge and they had an aquarium and reptile house as well that we went too.

Computer Museum
The next day, Monday, we went to the Computer Museum which was pretty much the only thing open and it showed you 60 years of gaming history, which was so interesting. They had lots of old game machines and consoles, right back to the SNES system and then they had the newest models as well like 3D glasses. It was such an interesting day and there were so many things to look at, the history side of it was exceptionally interesting as I didn't realise gaming has been around that long, 60 years from today is a long time!

Egyptian Museum
On the Monday we had a fairly busy day and the first thing we did was go to the Egyptian Museum. This is part of the whole Berlin Museum which is huge and split between about 4 buildings, but it was quite expensive so we just went to the one museum based around this certain time period, and it was very interesting. We learned a lot about the history of Germany during this time which again was very interesting and we also got to look at a lot of older artifacts that they had uncovered over the years including the main attraction the bust of Nefertiti.

Holocaust Museum
We then also visited the Holocaust Museum and the Memorial and also a section of the Berlin wall that had information all over it about the events that took place in Berlin during the Second World War. These sights were so interesting and I gained so much knowledge about the whole War, learning new things about stuff that I didn't even know happened, but it was rather sad reading about some of it and it was awful to know that humans actually did the things they did.

General Sightseeing
We then also had a little bit of time to just to some general sightseeing and we got to see so many of the famous places in Germany like the Brandenburg Gate and the Berlin Cathedral. It is a beautiful City that doesn't differ that much from some of the prettier English cities and due to the gorgeous weather it was so nice to just explore and walk around, which is what we did for most of Monday as everywhere was closed.
