Context of Practice 3 Lighting Research: Natural Light

After looking at the light in different situations like from above, below and different directions I then wanted to look at how natural light can be used in an environment as it can create some really beautiful effects of not only lighting but colour as well. All of the images that I have used are not mine and I found them on Google, they are all beautiful and I had to show them off.

Mid-Morning Sunlight
This is a really nice look at how a mid morning sunlight can be used on an environment to give it that early feeling. This scene looks very fresh and awake and almost a little bit hazy which gives it the feeling that its only just woken up. The sun is slightly behind clouds in this image but still creates really nice shadows on the landscape.
Midday Sunlight
The next looks at midday sunlight and this kind of sun is always very high in the sky as it reaches 12pm and it always to me looks very strong, especially like this when there are no clouds in the way. The sun's rays reach out and cast a really nice bright white light on everything as it reaches its highest point in the day.
Late Afternoon/Early Evening Sunlight
The late afternoon, early evening, sun is always beautiful as it can make a scene very warm and inviting. The sun is just about to hit that spot where the sky starts to become illuminated by colour and you can see the orange of the sun setting filter into the blue of the sky and then illuminate the pink flowers on the floor as well.
Sunset
Sunset is possibly one of the most beautiful times of day as when the sun is just starting to set over the horizon you start to get the most beautiful colour streaks across the sky. They can range in colour but most of them are usually this orange colour that you can see below mixing with the darkened sky and produced yellows and reds that then are reflected onto the surroundings.
Dusk
Dusk again is a beautiful time of day as the yellows and oranges are gone and setting which then still project these faintly on the horizon but they fade away into these lovely pink and purple tones on occasion, like below, before turning into night. This is a beautiful shot as you can see the colours breaking up and the cloud that reflect the colours much like the water does below the sky.
Overcast Light
The overcast light can be different to others as it is based around light coming through clouds and this is a nice example below as you can see most of the scene is in shadow from the amount of clouds that are above it, but you do then get this streak of bright light that comes through and separates this dark area.
Broken Cloud and Dapple Light
This is a really nice effect that can be used in an environment as it creates a beautiful dappled effect on the floor when sunlight comes through trees and projects the shadows of leaves on the floor. Its a really lovely look but does only work on a very sunny day, otherwise you can't see the effect very well.
Night Light (Moonlight and Light Pollution)
This is such a beautiful image below that I found on Google of a town that is sitting slightly beneath the clouds which creates a really nice effect that shows just how much light pollution can effect the look of the environment. But even though the city is polluting the natural night sky it can't help but being so beautiful at the same time as the lights stand out so nicely against the rest of the environment that is blue in contrast to the yellow.
Colour in the Sky
This is an utterly beautiful shot of the Northern lights in Norway. This sight is one of the most beautiful that you will ever see and especially at night like this when you can see the black of the landscape and sky and then see it in contrast against the colours that dance across the sky and emit those gorgeous purple, blue and green tones into the sky.
Water
Water is the last thing I looked at as it can create some really nice looks to it when light hits it. The reflections that can come off can make the water sparkle and make some really nice imagery. The water seems to glow and this is only due to the light coming and landing on it.
