Extended Practice Weekly Evaluation: Week 8

9th to the 15th of March 2015
This week marked the character being completely finished and I was able to wrap up the process of making Keith, which was very exciting. Again this felt like a slower week and I feel that I should have sped up the character creation process slightly faster as looking at my schedule I am about a week behind, and I should have been starting to create my environment by now.

But I did get the character rigged completely and fully bound to the skeleton. This was actually a fairly simple process as it was only a couple of months ago that we had done this in a project with an alien and also two characters featuring in a machinima piece. But a refresher was definitely needed and I worked my way through Mat's videos to ensure that I was getting everything done in the correct order and to a high standard as this is the main character that you are going to be playing as.

I then moved onto doing some test animations for him, and created a walk, run and jump animation that I could then use as reference for my final animating. I also took the opportunity to get some really nice reference video of Stuart doing the movements so I pretty much just had to copy them, making the animating tests so much easier!

Again, despite the slower week, and the fact that I am falling behind slightly, the project is still going strong and I feel that I am making a lot of progress towards the final outcome of the finished game. The only thing that worries me at the moment is getting the environment finished quickly as it is a big job, and hand painting all of the textures is not easy when you are working to a tight deadline.
