This week, after finishing the character, I moved onto creating the Egyptian level. This was very exciting and the process was fairly simple to get everything modeled to a high standard due to the fact that I already had my mock up level and the size of the rooms pretty much stayed the same from that, I just had to ensure that I was working in cubes instead of planes this time, but this was no problem.
The problems that I had this week came with the UV mapping and texturing. The UV mapping alone took me about 3 days to sort out altogether due to the amount of things in my level and then complexity of it, but I knew that I wouldn't want to change anything about it at this stage so I carried on through with it and got everything done. Then the texturing took even longer to sort out. Once I had created a seamless texture for both the walls and the floor, it was only a matter of tiling them correctly, but this still took about 4 days to do, but finally the level was coming together nicely and was starting to take shape.
Overall this week, due to the fact that the UV mapping and texturing did take so long I've found myself further behind than I would like to be, but still at a similar level with Sophie so I didn't feel that I was letting her down, just needed to push on with the project to ensure that everything was done in time.
