20th to the 26th of April 2015
This week went well I think and I gained back a bit of momentum towards getting to the final deadline, which is only two weeks away now. It's getting a bit scary but we are well on our way to being finished, despite being two weeks behind on our schedule we had originally given ourselves a lot of extra time to get finalising finished and of a good quality so we did have time to spare and we made good progress this week.
I started off the week by finishing off the hub world. I was making the main section and Sophie was making the assets so I followed the designs I had made and ensured that there was enough space inside to be able to move around with a third person controller. I really like the overall design even though it is fairly simple, the wood is a big contrast to the level I have been working on which is all made out of stone, and the design is really nice, showing that there are more levels to be access on the floor and further up the tree.
We then combined everything together this week as well making sure the assets where in the hub in the correct place, or in a place that made the most sense to have them and decorated the inside with all of the assets. We then went about connecting all of the world together and ensured that the portals where working in the correct way and took the player to the correct level.
This week we also started to add in our music into the levels. We had our music created for us by Sam Staff, along with people he works with, and it fits perfectly with the atmosphere that we are trying to create. We then got to play through the level with the music and it really brought it to life further and made the levels feel more upbeat and exciting.
Overall, we again made good progress towards finishing everything up this week, and we were able to even get music in the level which just added so much to them both. The hub world is also linked up and there are only sound effects to add in next week before we can move onto the cut scenes.
