Work Placement Opportunities (Hopefully)

As I was feeling particularly brave over his weekend I decided to email a games company in York asking them for some kind of placement or even just to shadow them for a few days. The company is New Moon Games and is run by three registered people, all of whom have great backgrounds working in the industry, even for big companies like EA. They are a design studio that specialise in 2D and 3D environment art, assets and levels for games which cover multiple platforms. They are based in Acombe in York, North England, so it is an excellent opportunity as this is my home town and I know where it is located.

This would be really exciting to be able to work with them and I am currently just waiting on an email from them, as it is still the weekend, but I would be thrilled just to get the opportunity to meet them even if it was just to ask them a few questions based on environments for research for my dissertation.

After I had found out about them I had a quick look at some of the work that they had produced which they feature on their website and I was really interested by it. I especially like the work that they did on the full 3D environments as they are well designed, especially the medieval village one. I also really like the smaller Unity Pro Designs that they did which look like they are for some kind of mobile game. They look so intricate and interesting, are of a good visual art style and the even for the size of them there are clear themes coming through in each which make me more interested to find out more information about them.
