Extended Practice Story Ideas, Development and Final Idea

We next wanted to look into the development of the story for the game. This was a very important stage of the production as we wanted to have a strong story but ensure that it is simple and not too complex. This was a main feature in the research that Sophie carried out into the story in games, and in the 90s the stories were minimal but still enjoyable; usually having a simple plot that was carried through to the end. This was definitely the theme that we wanted to use throughout our game and keep it simple, so we started by coming up with some basic ideas that could be used before taking them further and developing them.
After looking at the initial ideas that two elements that we wanted to take forward the most included 'the wonders have been turned into something invaluable', and 'character retires from the zoo to join a family of it's species', as we believed that these two stories had the most potential to be combined together to create a nice simple back story and plot all of the way through. We then came up with a further three stories that we could explore to ensure that we had thoroughly looked at a range of ideas before settling on one.
After time we decided that the strongest idea to take forward was the third one as it had the most potential to be changed and adapted over time to suit the character, supporting characters, and development of the location. The final idea therefore stands as so:
'The character has retired from the zoo, him being an animal there is our initial thought, after many years as being a performer. His main goal is to find a group of Koala's called the Ancients of which his Great-great grandfather had been apart of. It had always been his dream that one day he would have been part of them and he was determined to find them and try and join. When he eventually find them his initiation test is to the stop the latest threat to the wonders of the world, who happens to be our secondary character, a member of a family who have always posed as a threat to the Ancients and the wonders of the world that they protect.'
