Recently I have been very interested in reading gaming magazine, and one in particular; Edge. Along with this I know there are a lot of other magazines out there that dedicate themselves to looking at the development of the games industry and they are all very useful to read as they provide interesting and specific facts about the different kind of industry practise currently ongoing. Along with having a magazine, Edge also have an online website which is still very good for gaming information but obviously doesn't go into as much detail as the magazines do.
Alongside the magazine and website, Edge also offers an annual games competition which would definitely be something that I could look into next year if I was to meet some programmers and scripters that would like to collaborate.
Along with Edge there is also a magazine called 3D World which is something that I would like to start reading as I feel that it would really help me with my software developing skills and certainly improve on them, along with offering me insight to other pieces of software out there that I might not be as familiar with, and might not necessarily have thought of it begin with.
Then lastly there is also a magazine called Develop, which is definitely more based towards game developers as it used technical language but I feel that it might be worth reading, especially now that I have my dissertation coming up. I feel that it might be able to offer me insight not only into games companies and what they are producing but also what new software is being developed and it could offer me quotes from developers and publishers that once again might be handy with my essay.
